Dear Oakley Parents and Guardians
The end of term was busy, celebratory and hot! We enjoyed the annual Summer Party last week and the rain held off as the girls enjoyed burgers, ice cream and then a competitive game of rounders on the field. The Monitors led proceedings and it was great to have some of our new Year 8s join us as well:

Well done to Brisha, Tajvy, Esinam and the team who worked really hard on this year’s House Bake-Off entry, with the theme of Fairytales:
And the sports continued, even in the heat with Senior Tennis, Junior Rounders and Sports Day. My thanks got to all of those girls who got involved:

In my final assembly of the term, the following awards were presented:
House Colours: Heily, Siron, Aleks and Yara
Most Commendations: Ella T
Tutees of the Term: Siyon, Emily and Clara
Junior House Cup: Anoushka
Senior House Cup: Clara
Best Newcomer: Victoire
House Spirit: Rugile
I also announced the new Monitor roles for the academic year 2026/7:
Integration and Wellbeing Monitors: Greta and Tajvy
Sports Monitors: Angelica and Greycious
Charity Monitors: Nela and Winnie
Performing Arts Monitor: Florence
Deputy Heads of House: Rugile and Sarah
Head of House: Esinam
I am looking forward to working with this team in the coming year, counting on their support and loyalty to Oakley; I am sure they will learn much from the leadership opportunity.

And then we came to the final assemblies in School. I am pleased to share the following awards. We are really proud of our Oakley girls:
We won the inaugural House Art Competition in a really strong field. There was a student and staff vote and I would like to congratulate Brisha and Greycious who worked so hard on our final entry:

Bromsgrove Service Award: Sai-Nam
The Headmaster said: “A diligent member of the group, often working hard in the background and not seeking the spotlight, this pupil has shown up week after week, sharing her creativity and enthusiasm for the activity. She has learned new skills to successfully tackle a range of different crafting activities and has been a driving force behind many sales, raising money for Primrose Hospice. Recently, she has demonstrated a real talent for crochet and has actively supported her peers while helping to create blankets for a local baby bank based in Smethwick. An outstanding contribution.”
Life Skills and French Awards: Sophie Tang (L4)
Endeavour and Progress: Ellie Chow (L4)
Art, Biology, Business and Chemistry: Shristi Rai (U4)
Textiles: Tiffany Tuladhar-Cardosa (U4)
Photography: Charlotte Wong (U4)
On Friday night some girls came to help decorate the Oakley gazebo, which has become a tradition at the end of term:

And then we came to Commemoration Day 2026. After the rehearsals on Friday, the St John’s Service in town was my own personal highlight. I was so very proud of Sarah and Florence who played the French horn and violin in this very special occasion:

The sermon was really memorable. Our speaker spoke about our leavers being ‘salt and light’ in the future. She also said that everyone changes a room when they enter it. And that is so true of our Oakley girls.

To those girls who are leaving Oakley this year, I would like to say thank you for all that you have done for Oakley and the School. At Commemoration Day yesterday, many Old Bromsgrovians came to say hello and it amazes me how quickly time passes but our Oakley girls who return come back with such memories and gratitude for how this place shapes us all.
Thank you for your support this year. I wish you all a lovely summer break and look forward to welcoming everyone back to Oakley in September.
Best wishes
Victoria Adams
